Mr. & Mrs. Pruscha – Parents

We just got done with a Manage Bullying class and we were very impressed by it!

Martial arts tells you that fighting is the last resort and Manage Bullying helps you to diffuse situations so they do not escalate to fighting.

We have 2 daughters, Sarah and Erin.  These are skills that will help both of both of them to get through middle school and even high school safely.

One of the reasons that my children are in taekwondo is to learn to defend themselves.  Manage Bullying teaches them what to do when conflict arises.

Kevin

I watched my niece and nephew today while participating in the Manage Bullying Program. I think it’s really good for the kids to learn how to deal with negative situations that they might catch themselves in.

This is something all kids should participate in!  It’s structured and the points are driven home through role playing. They’re in a class and in the environment that they are accustomed to when they come in for martial arts training.

It is very informative for an uncle/aunt, or legal guardian.  Not only is this good for the kids, but this is a great reminder for adults when they find themselves in these situations in a work or social environment.

Ian – 14 year old student

Hi my name is Ian. I’m 14 and I’ve been learning Manage Bullying for about a year now and the stuff really works. I mean –it’s great!  I walk around school with more confidence. It also brings out confidence in other kids if you learn it.

It taught me to stay calm to keep the other person who is verbally assaulting you calm so it doesn’t cause a fight.  I used to be bullied a little bit before I learned Verbal Defense but since learning it, I haven’t had any more problems.

Tim Smith

My name is Tim Smith and I’d like to talk about this Verbal Defense program. Manage Bullying teaches kids to use non-violence and walk away from trouble. It looks at their tone of voice and how to react to bullies.

It’s an outstanding program and I highly encourage everybody to be trained in Manage Bullying!

Kathy Van Zeeland – Parent

I have three children who are participating in Manage Bullying.  I have a 4th grader, 6th grader and a 2nd grader and it’s been fantastic that they are learning this in their martial arts school. It gives them a very safe environment, and adds a lot of value to what they are learning in martial arts because they are not just learning the physical moves that are going to help them defend themselves, they are also learning verbal skills that are going to help them cope with any type of situation that they are confronted with.

I’ve seen a tremendous improvement in the way they are able to respond and react thru whatever situations that they encounter. It’s a fantastic life skill for them!

David Glazer – Father

My name us David Glazer and my son has been practicing Manage Bullying for a number of years now. It’s been very good for him!  I can notice the difference in his overall demeanor.  He is much more relaxed, more self-assured and he just handles himself better in all different types of situations.

In fact, I had a situation about a week ago where someone got very confrontational with me and it was helpful because I thought about Verbal Judo and it made me handle things differently and much better than I otherwise would have. We really appreciate the fact that we have been exposed to this program.

Chris Sayrs – Father and Attorney

My name is Chris Sayrs and I’ve been learning the Manage Bullying methodologies. I’m very glad that we’re learning it. It’s being taught to my children and they are using it in school and I, as an attorney, am using it in the courtroom.

I know that out there in the real world, police, firemen and emergency responders are using it too. It helps you neutralize the other side and keep things on a very civil level.

I know that we will continue to use these skills in all parts of our lives!

This bully program is amazing!  I went through the videos, powerpoints and info sheets. WOW! Very well orchestrated, and what an impact … I love the terminology . . . my favorite . . . . Bully Shield!

Great work!

The Gerks Family

My sons Evan and Erik attended the anti-bullying seminar. It was great!  It teaches our children how to react and respond to bullying that happens in school.  The bullying problem has gotten very bad in school and I don’t feel the teachers or parents have any idea how to deal with it.  This seminar gave us some really good techniques and tools and told us what to do if our child is bullied.

Evan is unique in the fact that he has a disability.  Bullying is a real problem for him due to this disability, and this program has been extremely beneficial.

The Paringer Family

We just attended the anti-bullying session.  The most powerful thing was that the kids could see their peers act and re-act in a realistic manner. This role playing was a very valuable tool. We learned great techniques that can be used at school and to teach his younger brother.

The Tracy Family

This Program was awesome!

We really enjoyed the anti-bullying seminar. Our son is in first grade and he learned several really good techniques that he can use to better protect himself at school. Not only did my son learn a lot, but I learned a lot as a parent.

Joe Dorf – Parent

My two children, ages 7 and 10, went through the Verbal Defense program. They loved it! It’s something they can use all the way through their childhood to their professional careers.

My wife also really enjoyed it. The best thing about the course that she really liked was using a funny word to change a situation or to use as a defense.

Pat Morgan – Parent

I am the parent of 2 teenage daughters. On a regular basis I am shocked by the stories that they come home from school with, what’s going on and what seems to be the lack of authority figures to help.

I try to give them advice from my past experiences, what I encountered from when I was a kid, but to be perfectly honest I don’t know if I always handled it very well or that the situations translate to today.

This class was immensely beneficial and gave real-life examples, tips on how to deal with them and gave ideas and suggestions on how to keep the kids from being bullied in the first place.

The class is great!  It is something that I will be able to refer back to on a regular basis. Thank you very much for that!

What an important social issue you’re helping to tackle!

Mercifully, (my daughter) has never been bullied … teased, but not bullied. She’s got good self esteem, is confident and, for the most part, not passive.

I hope we never have to deal with this issue head on, but now we will have the skills necessary to deal with the situation if we ever do.

Peter Harrell Jr. – Expert

I have found these training modules to be the most effective, comprehensive, answer that addresses the problem of how do we keep “our most valued assets” (our children) safe.

Parents, children, school adminstrators … everyone. This program is for you!

Ann Kregish – Librarian

I was very happy to have the Manage Bullying Program taught in our school.  The students definitely got a lot out of it. The boys were especially happy when there was a demonstration. You could see right away how they were interested. The information in this program is very important!  I think it’s important for all children to hear about bullying and what to do when faced with it.

This program gives great ideas for what to do if someone calls you a name.  You don’t get aggressive. You try to diffuse the situation by being funny or by looking confident and showing that it doesn’t bother you.

I like the mix that it’s interactive, and that the emphasis on not reacting violently. Even if you know judo or tae kwon do, you don’t use it.

Nick Elliot – Father

I have a daughter who was fortunate to find this program to help children develop the tools they need to handle bullies.

It’s so hard to watch your daughter come home upset and you’re so sad that there’s nothing you can do.

This program gave her the abilities she needed to deal with the bullies at school.  I am just so happy to say she is not being bullied anymore.  I am so thankful for this program.

As the parent of two children… I was impressed with the workshop on verbal self defense for kids.

My 12 and 8 year olds learned vital, valuable skills on how to deal with bullies in school or anywhere in life.  This gives them exercises, and has them role play real life scenarios.  It is amazing how quickly they can acquire these skills.

With a little bit of work-they’ll do just fine.

Stacey Van Rens – Playground Supervisor and Parent

The Verbal Self Defense Series is great! I am in my 9th year as a playground supervisor at an elementary school and many of the skills being taught are things kids can use everyday.

Sometimes kids don’t even realize they’re being bullied or the bullies don’t realize they are bullying. Sports dominance is such a huge factor. Teaching fairness, compassion and a sense of being humble is big.

One of my favorite lines in a movie is from ‘Princess Diaries’ and it says, ‘no one can make you feel inferior without your consent.’ I’ve always tried to teach my kids this (my daughter more encounters needing the line than my son.) These videos are on track with that concept.

Sue Umland – Parent

I just watched the videos and was extremely impressed with what they had to offer.

I really felt they gave some good, practical tips on taking the emotions out of an emotionally charged situation. It gave good tips on how to handle it, handle your children when they’re being bullied, and how to make them not become a target for bullying by building up their self esteem.

I really enjoyed the whole course, felt it was well done and easy to understand and implement. I would urge people to try it!

Jane Schulties – Parent and Teacher

After watching these videos,  I realized that these scenarios are very real!

What happens out on the playground on a daily basis at school, also happens with adults on a daily basis out in the community but at a different level. If you start young and work with them today on defense and having them be assertive rather than aggressive, this will cut down on problems later in life.

Make sure that they get all the information, that they talk to the appropriate authority, whether it’s the teacher, someone on the playground, police officer, anyone. Makes sure they do what they’re told, they use their voice rather than their fist, and that they use the deflection. Have them come up with a silly work block or something that will work because these situations do come up.

What they’re teaching you in these videos is real, and it really does work!
